“I found the consultation very enlightening. Also, having a group of women staring into your eyes telling you how fantastic they are was very nice too. Not only have I been shopping, I have actually tried my `pink approachable’ shirt out. This has been a life changing experience for me as I said I would never wear PINK!!!” Mark B. Cheshire
“The result is fabulous, and something that I can really identify with. I know I will be very happy to give my business cards out. I also know that without the colour analysis I would not have come to such a great result” Anna Doedens

![]() personal colour psychology - case studiesCASE STUDY: Mark BredenMark, a 37 year old farmer and Reiki therapist from Cheshire had a consultation following his divorce a year previously. He was looking for inspiration and felt he had become stuck in a rut, appearance wise for too long. He was also much in need of a confidence boost and a new lease of life to suit his new lifestyle. Mark shares his in:colour experience: “In the past few years I have realised the difference colour can have within your home on how you feel. When I was told by a friend about in:colour, I just had to go and see for myself. I went for my consultation on a training day, quite open to colour but insistent that I wouldn’t wear pink as its quite feminine and I have never worn it before. I was greeted by Bernay and three women who asked me a series of questions then one by one they stared deep into my eyes. (its not everyday that happens) After they decided on my season colour, (I’m a Summer) they covered me in different coloured drapes, deciding on which were my best colours to wear for approachability, power, etc. You guessed it: my most approachable colour was pink and I found out I shouldn’t wear black or white as they gave out the wrong impression! Up until my consultation my wardrobe consisted of mainly black and white. They managed to convince me about the pink, so much so I went out that day and bought a pink shirt. I then put it to the test. I went out with my friend into town. Instead of my normal black shirt, I wore my new pink one. The result was that unlike normal, women approached me all night, just as Bernay had said. I now use my colour palette all the time, not only for approachability
CASE STUDY: Anna DoedensAnna is a life coach and lives in Hampshire where she runs her own life coaching practice Quintessence Personal Coaching. Anna specializes in coaching women to address the fine balance between caring for the family and own personal goals. Inspired after listening to Bernay’s talk on communicating through colour, Anna felt that it was time to re-vamp both her personal and business image. Here Anna shares her in:colour experience: “I decided to go for a personal colour analysis as well as an analysis for by business colours. As a personal coach I am the product that my company sells, and I strongly felt that the colours I was going to use needed to be congruent with my business message as well as myself. I found the analysis very inspiring, as well as surprising. Years ago I had been for a personal colour analysis, so therefore had a strong idea of what my colours were. Or so I thought. Bernay started with a long chat, which involved her trying to find out a bit more about my personality. Only then did the famous swatches come out, which confirmed Bernay's original thoughts, but surprised my own. I had previously thought I should wear the winter colours, but it turned out I was more of a summer colouring. Bernay did not need to convince me of that; I could very clearly see for myself that she was right. When Bernay told me a bit about the summer personalities, I could feel something click into place. I felt somehow more justified to be who I am, and make no excuses for it. I started to wear the colours recommended to me, and feel that I look better and somehow "lighter". I did not throw all my clothes out straight away, I could not afford to update my wardrobe in one go. However, every time I do buy new clothes I do stick to the recommended palette. I feel somehow stronger and more confident, even though it seems surprising that the effect could be so far reaching. Bernay recommended four colours for my business communication, also in summer tones. I have recently had my corporate identity developed for me, using those colours”. Anna Doedens-Plant |
